In the article “Modular construction:  threat or opportunity?” author Jenn Goodman describes modular construction and what it means to the future of the construction industry.  The article describes how modular construction delivers projects 20% to 50% faster than traditional methods, shaves up to 20% off a project’s costs, and makes sense for contractors in labor-constrained markets,   Some industry leaders are embracing modular construction and see their roles shifting from less on-site construction to more of a commoditized approach.  “I would encourage the leaders of E&C firms to think about what could be their sweet spot 10 to 15 years out,” a McKinsey partner said. “It’s time to get moving.”
