A facilitation of consensus around a set of shared beliefs about what General Insulation stands for and works towards, to ensure that these beliefs are reflected in the systems, structures, choices, and decisions of General Insulation as a means of shaping our organizational culture. As General Insulation grows, so does their corporate culture.

General Insulation’s corporate culture is a roadmap, guide, and explanation of how we, as employees and representatives, of General Insulation Company, Inc. conduct ourselves with our peers, customers and vendors. It defines who we are, what we do and how we do it. It is the set of parameters we operate within as we put into practice our core values of “Integrity, Intelligence, and Intensity”.

The Culture Committee was established to define, reduce into writing, and help put into action the essence of the General Insulation Company, Inc. corporate culture. Made up of General Insulation Company, Inc. employees from all levels and representing all locations of the company, the committee will collaborate, discuss and formulate a guide and policy of how we conduct ourselves in the eyes of the community, customers and vendors. The guide is a help-aid to reinforce company promoted behaviors and to identify and discourage behavior considered not in line with our mission statement and core values. Sanctioned by top management, the culture guide will characterize who we are and how we act.

Thus far, the Culture Committee has defined a series of guidelines that we believe define the culture of General Insulation Company, Inc. individuals. The guidelines include but are not limited to:

Culture guidelines

1) General

Each individual of the company is important and should be included in the company culture and encouraged to participate to the fullest. Every position is significant and all employees are valuable assets of the company. The warehouse staff, inside sales, outside sales and management can make or break valuable relationships with our customers. Each player needs to be professional, personable and efficient. Work with an open mind. Listen and evaluate. Lead, teach, grow and stay humble. Always stay responsive to your customers, each other, and to your environment. Intelligence, Integrity and Intensity, walk the walk. Employees should be valued for who they are and respected for the skill and diversity they bring to the work environment. Everyone wants their input to the organization recognized, and they want a clear understanding of what is required of them. Goals should be recorded and talked about on all levels to strive for excellence and growth, but more importantly, each employee needs to be challenged to strive to make a difference. This communication is applicable up and down the chain of command, as well as, between and among peers. Each General Insulation Company, Inc. employee should challenge themselves and their co-workers to encourage maximum productivity and return on investment. When the company grows and succeeds, we all win.

2) Branch-to-Branch

Treat other branches like you would your best customer. Interbranch teamwork is essential to further the growth and direction of General Insulation Company. Key to this is deliberate and concise communications. Keep each other informed and be aware that we are all players on a team. We need to outdistance our competitors with intelligence, integrity and intensity (sound familiar). We have logistical strengths when we cooperate between branches. Our product availabilities increase, our knowledge of the market place increases, and our versatility of trucking assets increases. Consistent regional meetings are important to discuss comments, suggestions and concerns. Staff on all levels should participate to promote cooperation and efficiencies.

3) Existing/Potential Hires

Individuals applying for employment with GIC are investing time and effort for your consideration. The manner in which they are treated can impact our company in a negative way and have far reaching implications. It takes little additional effort to thank them for their time and effort, respect their dignity, and to provide feedback response in a timely way. Any of these individuals can become future decision makers who can help or hinder your business. Plus it’s just good manners. Talented new people are the future for our company. New hires and the selection criteria must mesh solidly with our goals, values and culture. Care should be taken to properly train and orientate new individuals while encouraging their growth and development.

4) Vendor Relations

We depend on our vendors to provide quality materials and service. When they fall short, we fall short. The vendor is our partner. Without the vendor and his products, we cannot fulfill our commitments to our customers. They are not outsiders or adversaries or people to take advantage of. We will respect their needs, personal space and business policies. And on behalf of our customers, we will hold them accountable for the level of service we deserve.

5) Community Relations

Community relations have broader and more far reaching parameters than cash contributions. General Insulation Company, Inc. employees are encouraged to volunteer time and resources to recognized and worthy causes. We should all be looking to be part of something larger than ourselves with more than short term profits as the goal (even though that’s important). Genuine interest and involvement in the larger community and contributing to the issues unique to region, the society and local government is time well spent and worthy accomplishments position GIC and it’s associates into a position as a good corporate citizen.

6) Customer Relations

At General Insulation Company, Inc. we provide value added service to our customers. We believe that the customer is the most important person and he/she deserves our most courteous and attentive treatment. The customer is not an interruption to our work schedule; he is the purpose of it. The customer does not depend on us, we depend on him. And, most importantly, the customer is part of our business; he or she is not an outsider. Customer relations are what our company is built on. The customer is our life blood and our purpose. Value added service (VAS) has many meanings and forms. The informed GIC representative will employ intelligence, integrity and intensity to identify the needs of his customer and maximize resources to win the order.

Please understand developing and maintaining of the corporate culture formula is and will be an ongoing process, as General Insulation Company, Inc. avoids complacency on all ends of the spectrum. This committee is not limited to ideas and beliefs of that on behalf of this cultivated group. We encourage any thoughts, suggestions, or concerns that any General Insulation employee may rise, as each individual holds extreme value making up the General Insulation Company team.
